UGREEN NAS Dubai — The Hardware-First Choice, Supplied and Installed
UGREEN NASync entered the NAS market in 2024 and immediately made the established players uncomfortable. 10GbE built-in on the DXP4800 Plus — not via an expansion card, not via port trunking, just there. DDR5 RAM and PCIe Gen4 M.2 slots when everyone else ships DDR4 and Gen3. Build quality that independent reviewers consistently rate above Synology and QNAP at the same price point. The software is newer. The app ecosystem is smaller. Docker fills the gap. For Dubai offices that want maximum hardware capability per dirham and are comfortable with a growing platform rather than the most mature one — UGREEN is the conversation. Vector Digital Systems supplies, installs and configures UGREEN NASync systems across all seven UAE emirates. Since 2009.
- DXP4800 Plus and DXP4800 Pro — 2025 models
- 10GbE built-in — no expansion card needed
- UGOS Pro configured — RAID, shares, Docker
- Btrfs file system — snapshots enabled
- No drive restriction — any NAS drive works
- All 7 UAE emirates — 2–4 hour site visit
- MEA export — 43 countries
UGREEN Wins on Specs Per Dirham. The Software Is Growing. Both Are True.
The DXP4800 Plus ships with an Intel Pentium Gold 8505 five-core processor, 8GB of DDR5 RAM upgradeable to 64GB, two PCIe Gen4 M.2 NVMe slots, and a built-in 10GbE port plus a 2.5GbE port. No expansion card required. No port trunking workaround. Just 10GbE, out of the box, at a price that undercuts the Synology DS925+ — which has no 10GbE at all — and competes directly with QNAP TS-464, which achieves near-10GbE only through dual-port trunking.
The build quality story is real. Independent lab reviews consistently note that UGREEN’s metal housing and industrial finish feel materially better than Synology and QNAP at equivalent price points. The UGOS flash drive that runs the operating system lives on a dedicated 128GB internal drive — it does not use a drive bay. Your four bays are entirely available for storage.
The honest gap: UGOS Pro is two years old. Synology DSM is fifteen. The app ecosystem is smaller, the enterprise features like surveillance station integration and DHCP/DNS services are on the roadmap but not yet delivered. For offices that need those features, Synology or QNAP is the answer. For offices that need maximum NAS hardware at reasonable cost and are happy to run Plex, Nextcloud, and other services via Docker — UGREEN delivers more hardware per dirham than anything else on the market.
Which UGREEN NAS Is Right for Your Office?
The UGREEN NASync lineup for business offices runs from the DXP2800 2-bay entry through the DXP4800 Plus as the volume recommendation to the DXP4800 Pro for heavier workloads. Here is the picture on each model VDS supplies and installs.
Five to thirty users. 10GbE without the extra card. The model VDS installs most in Dubai offices.
The DXP4800 Plus is the UGREEN model that makes the most sense for a Dubai office moving from a shared drive to a proper NAS. The Intel Pentium Gold 8505 five-core processor handles concurrent workloads without throttling — file sharing, Docker containers, and backup jobs running simultaneously. The built-in 10GbE port delivers full-speed transfers to any workstation on a 10GbE switch without any configuration overhead. The 2.5GbE port serves the rest of the office. Both active simultaneously.
The M.2 NVMe slots are PCIe Gen4 — faster than the Gen3 slots on Synology DS925+ and most QNAP models at this tier. Used for SSD caching, they noticeably accelerate file access on spinning drives. Used as a dedicated storage pool, they give containerised applications fast local storage separate from the main HDD array.
2-year warranty (vs 3-year on Synology and QNAP). Worth stating clearly. The hardware quality is higher, but the warranty term is shorter.

Heavy virtualisation, 4K transcoding, dual-PCIe environments.
The DXP4800 Pro replaces the Pentium Gold 8505 with an Intel Core i3-1315U — a 13th-generation six-core processor with two performance cores, four efficiency cores, and a 4.5GHz Turbo ceiling. The practical difference: heavier virtualisation workloads, smoother 4K hardware transcoding via Intel Quick Sync, and better headroom for offices running multiple containers alongside file sharing and backup.
Two PCIe Gen4 x4 slots change the expansion picture. Dual M.2 NVMe for SSD pools separate from the HDD array. Or one M.2 plus a 25GbE card when your infrastructure grows there. The DDR5 RAM ceiling is 96GB — meaningful for offices running Windows or Linux virtual machines with significant RAM allocation alongside NAS operations.

The DXP2800 is UGREEN’s 2-bay entry model — Intel N100 quad-core, 8GB DDR5, dual 2.5GbE, two M.2 NVMe slots. For a small team needing basic network storage with Docker support. Limited to two drives, so capacity and RAID options are restricted. For teams of two to eight with simple storage requirements. AED 1,400–1,800 diskless.
The DXP8800 Plus extends UGREEN’s hardware-first approach to 8 bays. Eight drive bays, 10GbE built-in, DDR5 RAM, the same UGOS Pro operating system. For larger offices needing significant storage depth with the same UGREEN hardware value proposition. VDS supplies and installs DXP8800 Plus units. WhatsApp with the spec and we’ll build the quote.
UGOS Pro Is Newer. It Covers What Offices Actually Need. Docker Covers the Rest.
UGOS Pro launched in 2024. Compared to Synology DSM at fifteen years, it is a younger operating system — a fact worth stating rather than glossing over. Buyers who need advanced surveillance camera management, DHCP and DNS server functionality, or a very deep third-party app catalogue will find those gaps. Buyers who need solid file sharing, backup, Docker containers and virtual machines will find all of them covered, and covered cleanly.
The setup experience is one of the things reviewers consistently note as a strength. UGOS Pro guides you through storage pool creation, shared folder setup and remote access configuration in a structured wizard. The web console is well-designed and logically organised. For an office without deep IT background doing an initial NAS setup, UGOS Pro is genuinely simpler than the alternatives.
- RAID management — RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10 and JBOD. Btrfs or Ext4 file system at pool creation.
- SMB and NFS file sharing — Windows, macOS and Linux access. Per-user and per-group permissions.
- Snapshots (Btrfs) — point-in-time folder copies. Fast recovery from accidental deletion or ransomware.
- Sync and Backup — NAS-to-NAS via Rsync. Cloud sync to OneDrive, Google Drive and five other services.
- Docker app — full Docker support. Any Docker Hub application deployable without command line for standard setups. SSH available for advanced workflows.
- Virtual Machine app — full hypervisor service. Windows and Linux VMs on the NAS alongside file sharing.
- Security Manager — real-time anti-malware with quarantine. AES encryption, configurable firewall, 2FA.
- Remote access — Ugreenlink ID creates a secure web link. iOS, Android, Windows and macOS apps available.
- Jumbo frames — 9000-byte MTU support on 10GbE for near-line-rate throughput confirmed in independent lab testing.
What VDS Configures On-Site — From Delivery to Handover
UGOS Pro is setup-friendly. But the decisions made at installation still determine whether Btrfs snapshots work, whether Docker containers run efficiently, whether backup jobs complete. VDS handles those decisions correctly the first time.

What Dubai Offices Said After Installation
UGREEN NASync systems supplied and installed by Vector Digital Systems across the UAE.
“We moved from a Synology to the DXP4800 Plus because we needed 10GbE to our editing workstations and the Synology upgrade path required an expansion card that cost almost as much as the UGREEN unit itself. VDS installed and configured everything in one visit — 10GbE connected to the switch, Btrfs storage pool, Plex running via Docker. Transfer times on large video files are significantly reduced.”
“We needed private file sharing that was not dependent on Microsoft 365 storage limits. VDS installed the DXP4800 Plus and deployed Nextcloud via Docker with correct folder mapping to the RAID 5 storage pool. The whole setup was done in one site visit. Nextcloud has been running without any issues for three months and the team uses it daily for project files.”
“We run a Windows Server VM on the DXP4800 Pro alongside file sharing for the office. VDS sized the RAM correctly — installed 32GB before setup — and configured the virtualisation before handover. The VM has been stable and the NAS handles both workloads without slowdown. The 10GbE makes the VM responsive over the network.”
