Description
APC Smart-UPS SRT1500RMXLI Dubai
That small rack in the corner still needs clean power
The firewall is there. The Etisalat or du router is there. Maybe a NAS, one Dell PowerEdge server, a PoE switch, CCTV NVR, access-control controller, and the small box that everyone forgets until the power drops.
Then the lights flicker for three seconds. The internet edge reboots. The firewall takes four minutes to come back. The storage array throws a warning. Users call IT. Accounts cannot access the shared folder. The warehouse in JAFZA cannot print delivery notes.
That is usually when the UPS conversation becomes serious.
The APC Smart-UPS SRT1500RMXLI is a 1500VA / 1500W online double-conversion UPS built for small server racks, network cabinets, storage racks, firewall stacks, and office IT rooms that need clean 230V power with battery backup. It is a 2U rackmount UPS, rack/tower convertible, with 6 IEC C13 output sockets, APCRBC155 battery support, SmartSlot management expansion, USB and serial communication, and sine-wave output.
Vector Digital Systems supplies and installs APC UPS systems across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and all 7 UAE emirates. We size the UPS against the actual connected load, not just the model number on the front. Server, firewall, switch, NAS, NVR, storage. All counted before the quote.
Online UPS, not line-interactive
The SRT1500RMXLI uses online double-conversion topology. The connected equipment receives conditioned output power from the UPS inverter, with no transfer gap during normal mains failure. This matters for servers, storage, firewalls, medical systems, PBX, access-control panels and network racks that should not reboot when the building supply dips.
What the APC SRT1500RMXLI is built for
This is not the UPS you buy for a single desktop PC. It is a rack UPS for infrastructure loads where clean shutdown, stable voltage and remote monitoring matter.
A common Dubai setup is simple: one 24U or 42U rack in an office IT room, one server, one firewall, one core switch, one NAS, one NVR and one ISP router. The rack may sit in a DMCC office, a clinic in Al Barsha, a DAFZA back office, a JAFZA warehouse, or a hotel IT room near the front desk. Power is usually available. But power quality is not always perfect. Brownouts, short drops, generator transfer, building maintenance, loose sockets, overloaded power strips. Small faults. Big interruption.
The SRT1500RMXLI is sized for this type of load when the real wattage stays within the 1500W limit and runtime expectations are realistic. It can protect a firewall and network stack for a longer period. It can protect a small server and storage unit long enough for clean shutdown. With external battery packs, runtime can be extended for sites that need more than a few minutes.
It is also a practical choice for edge IT. Branch offices in Sharjah, Abu Dhabi and Ras Al Khaimah often depend on one small rack. If that rack goes down, the branch loses VPN, file access, printing, attendance, CCTV, and sometimes payment systems. One 2U UPS gives the IT team a controlled buffer instead of a hard stop.
For server rooms in Dubai, the other issue is heat. UPS batteries do not enjoy hot rooms. A network cabinet placed in a store room without air conditioning may run, but the battery life will drop. We check placement, ventilation and load before installation because replacing batteries every year is not a good plan.
Do not size a UPS by VA only
The SRT1500RMXLI is rated at 1500VA and 1500W. Use the watt number when sizing. Add the real load from server PSUs, firewall, switch, storage and NVR, then leave headroom. A UPS running near full load gives shorter runtime and less room for future equipment.

Why 1500VA / 1500W matters
Many older UPS units carry a VA rating that looks larger than the usable watt rating. A 1500VA UPS may only support 900W or 1000W depending on power factor. That creates confusion during procurement because the buyer thinks there is more capacity than the rack can actually use.
The SRT1500RMXLI is rated at 1500VA and 1500W. That unity power factor is useful for modern IT loads. A current firewall, PoE switch, server PSU, NAS and storage controller draw watts. Not brochure VA. So the sizing discussion is easier: list the devices, add the wattage, include startup and growth headroom, then select UPS capacity and runtime.
For example, a 1U server running at 300W, a firewall at 60W, a 24-port switch at 90W, a NAS at 80W and ISP equipment at 30W gives a real load around 560W before headroom. That is a good fit for this UPS if the target is short-term backup and controlled shutdown. Add more servers, PoE access points or a storage shelf and the model may need to step up.
We do not recommend buying UPS capacity based on a rough guess. Send the rack photo or equipment list. We calculate the connected load before quoting.
Runtime depends on load, not just UPS model
The same SRT1500RMXLI will run longer at 300W than at 1200W. Runtime planning needs the actual wattage of the connected devices and the target action: bridge a short power drop, keep network online during generator transfer, or shut down servers cleanly.
Online double-conversion protection
The reason buyers choose the APC SRT series is the topology. Online double-conversion means the UPS converts incoming AC to DC, then back to clean AC output for the connected load. The inverter feeds the equipment during normal operation. When the mains fails, the UPS does not need to switch the load from utility to inverter in the same way a basic standby UPS does.
That is useful in UAE buildings where power is generally stable but short events still happen. Lift motors, generator changeover, building maintenance, MCB trips, overloaded circuits and voltage dips can all create problems for IT equipment. A desktop may survive it. A storage array writing data at that moment may not.
The SRT1500RMXLI outputs a sine wave at 230V, which suits active PFC power supplies used in servers, network equipment and storage. It also includes built-in bypass, so the UPS can pass power through under defined conditions without dropping the load. For small racks, that gives a cleaner power path than mixing cheap UPS units and power strips.
Rack fit, cabinet depth and installation checks
The SRT1500RMXLI is a 2U unit with a depth of 505 mm and a weight of 21 kg. It includes rack hardware and rails, but rack planning still matters. A UPS is heavy. It should usually be mounted low in the rack to keep the cabinet stable and to make battery replacement safer.
In many Dubai offices, the IT rack is an 800 mm deep network cabinet, not a full 1000 mm server rack. A 505 mm UPS can fit in many of these cabinets, but rear cable clearance, PDU position, door depth and rail mounting points need checking. We measure before installation where cabinet access is tight.
For tower use, the same UPS can be placed outside the rack with the correct orientation and ventilation. That helps in smaller offices where there is no rack yet, or where the rack is already full but the load still needs battery backup.
UPS placement also affects battery life. Do not place it above hot switches, behind blocked rack doors, or inside a store room that reaches 35°C every afternoon. APC rates the operating temperature at 0°C to 40°C, but battery life is always better in a cooled IT room.
Management: USB, serial and SmartSlot
The SRT1500RMXLI includes USB and serial communication for local UPS management and clean shutdown. That is enough for many small server deployments where one server needs to receive the shutdown signal and power down safely during a long outage.
For network-level monitoring, the SmartSlot is the key detail. This model supports an optional APC Network Management Card. With the card installed, the UPS can sit on the network with its own IP address. IT can check UPS status, input voltage, battery condition, runtime, load percentage and alerts without connecting a USB cable to a server.
That matters when the rack is in a branch office, a warehouse, a clinic, a school or a remote floor. You should not need to send someone to look at a UPS display just to know whether the battery is weak.
There is also a model naming point that buyers often mix up. The SRT1500RMXLI has SmartSlot for an optional card. The SRT1500RMXLI-NC variant includes network management. If you need SNMP monitoring, email alerts or remote UPS visibility from day one, mention that during the quote request so the correct version or card is included.

Battery and runtime planning
The SRT1500RMXLI uses internal lead-acid batteries and supports APCRBC155 as the replacement battery cartridge. Recharge time is around 3 hours after discharge. For procurement, the battery part number matters because UPS ownership does not end on purchase day. Two or three years later, battery replacement needs to be simple, traceable and compatible.
Battery runtime depends on load. A lightly loaded network rack may stay online long enough for a short outage or generator transfer. A server and storage load near the upper watt limit will drain faster. That is not a defect. It is how UPS systems work.
When we quote the SRT1500RMXLI, we ask for the connected equipment list. Server model. Number of switches. Firewall model. NAS or storage model. NVR load. PoE load if cameras or access points are connected. Then we decide whether the base UPS is enough or whether an external battery pack or a larger SRT model makes more sense.
For Dubai offices, we usually size around the action required during failure. Keep internet and firewall online. Shut down one server cleanly. Bridge generator startup. Protect storage writes. Each answer leads to a different runtime target.
Power, cooling and Dubai server rooms
A UPS is not only a battery box. It is part of the power path for the rack. The SRT1500RMXLI takes 230V single-phase input through an IEC C14 connector and provides 230V output through 6 IEC C13 sockets. That layout works for most server-room loads: firewall, switch, router, server PSU, NAS, NVR, storage controller and a small KVM.
But the socket layout should be planned. Do not connect the UPS to a cheap extension strip and then split every outlet again behind the rack. Use proper C13/C14 power leads, label both ends, and keep the UPS load below the rated wattage. If the rack needs more outlets, use a proper rack PDU matched to the UPS output and total load.
Heat is the other issue. The UPS is rated for 0°C to 40°C operation, but batteries age faster in hot rooms. A cabinet inside a Dubai store room without air conditioning can look fine for six months, then start eating batteries. We see this in small offices, clinics, retail sites and warehouses where the rack was added after the office fit-out.
Best practice is simple. Keep the UPS low in the rack. Keep airflow clear. Do not block the rear. Do not put it above heat-producing switches. Keep the server room or IT closet cooled. In places like JAFZA and DAFZA, where offices often run mixed warehouse and admin power, clean power and cooling need to be checked together.
Installation note
The SRT1500RMXLI weighs 21 kg. It should be mounted low in the rack using rails and proper rack hardware. For 800 mm cabinets, check rear cable clearance before installation. For 1000 mm server racks, fit is usually easier, but PDU and cable routing still need planning.
Grey market UPS warning
APC UPS units are widely listed online in the UAE. Not every unit is supplied through the right channel. That matters because a UPS is a serviceable product. Battery age, warranty status, plug type, region, serial number, and replacement battery availability all affect the real cost after purchase.
A low price can hide old stock. The unit may be unused, but the internal batteries may already have spent too much time on a shelf. Lead-acid batteries do not wait politely for your purchase order. They age in storage. If a UPS has been sitting for a long time without proper charging, the runtime may be poor from day one.
The other issue is warranty. APC warranty support depends on product registration, region and purchase channel. A buyer may save a small amount upfront, then lose more when a battery warning appears early, the serial number does not match local support, or the unit was supplied without the right accessories.
Vector Digital Systems supplies current APC UPS stock with proper invoice, model confirmation and warranty guidance. We also confirm the battery replacement path before you buy. For the SRT1500RMXLI, that means APCRBC155. Not “similar battery.” Not a random sealed battery pack fitted later. Correct cartridge, correct UPS.
Battery age matters
When comparing APC SRT1500RMXLI prices in Dubai, check more than the box price. Confirm warranty, serial number, stock age, included rails, battery condition, and whether APCRBC155 replacement support is available locally.
What Vector Digital Systems provides

Installation is available in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain. For server racks in offices, clinics, hotels, schools, warehouses and small data rooms, we can install the UPS, label the power path, test load, and hand over the basic operating steps to the IT contact.
We also handle mixed racks. One UPS for firewall and switching. One UPS for server and storage. Separate backup for CCTV/NVR. That split can make more sense than putting every device onto one overloaded UPS and hoping runtime will be enough.
Dubai availability: APC SRT1500RMXLI is available on quote. Ready-stock and project quantity options depend on current APC channel availability. Same-day quote on WhatsApp with UPS model, quantity, rack details and connected load.
Stock, price and availability in UAE
We do not publish fixed AED pricing for the SRT1500RMXLI because UPS pricing changes with stock, battery batch, project quantity, warranty terms and optional accessories. The correct quote depends on whether you need only the UPS, UPS plus network card, installation, extra power cables, rack PDU, AMC, or battery replacement planning.
For a same-day quote, send the model number and quantity by WhatsApp. If you are not sure whether 1500VA / 1500W is enough, send the connected equipment list or a rack photo. We will tell you if this model is suitable, or if the load should move to a larger APC SRT unit.
For procurement teams, we can quote with line items: UPS, network card if required, installation, delivery, warranty, batteries and AMC. That makes approval cleaner than a single vague “UPS supply” line.
Common buyer questions
Is the APC SRT1500RMXLI an online UPS?
Yes. The SRT1500RMXLI is an online double-conversion UPS. It provides 230V sine-wave output and is built for IT equipment that should not reboot during voltage dips, mains failure or generator transfer.
What load can the SRT1500RMXLI support?
It is rated at 1500VA / 1500W. Use the watt rating when sizing. The connected server, firewall, switch, NAS, NVR and router load should stay below 1500W with headroom for startup, battery runtime and future equipment.
How many output sockets does it have?
The SRT1500RMXLI has 6 IEC 60320 C13 output sockets. For larger racks, it can feed a suitable rack PDU, but the total connected load must still remain within the UPS rating.
Does it include network management?
The SRT1500RMXLI includes USB, serial and SmartSlot. A Network Management Card can be added through SmartSlot. The SRT1500RMXLI-NC version includes network management, so mention this requirement during the quote.
What replacement battery does this UPS use?
The replacement battery cartridge is APCRBC155. Battery planning matters in Dubai because hot IT rooms shorten battery life. We can supply battery replacement and AMC checks for APC UPS systems.
Can Vector Digital Systems install it in my rack?
Yes. We install UPS units in racks across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and all 7 UAE emirates. For 800 mm cabinets, we check depth and cable clearance before mounting. For 1000 mm server racks, installation is usually straightforward.
Comparable APC UPS options
SRT1500RMXLI-NC: Choose this when you want the same 1500VA / 1500W online UPS with network management included from day one. Useful for SNMP monitoring, email alerts and remote branch visibility.
Larger APC SRT rack UPS models: Choose a higher-capacity SRT model when the rack includes multiple servers, storage shelves, high PoE load, or a longer runtime target. Do not push a 1500W UPS close to its limit just to meet a purchase budget.
APC Smart-UPS line-interactive models: Suitable for lighter office and network loads where online double-conversion is not required. For servers, storage and critical firewall racks, the SRT online series is the safer fit.
APC external battery packs: Add runtime where the load is suitable but the battery time is not enough. This is common for sites that need to bridge generator startup or keep network links online longer during outages.
Africa, GCC and MEA export from Dubai
Vector Digital Systems exports APC UPS systems from Dubai for branch offices, IT resellers, project contractors and system integrators across GCC, Africa and South Asia. Common destinations include Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Nigeria and Pakistan.
For export orders, we can quote FOB Dubai with project quantities, model confirmation, packing details and optional battery replacement planning. UPS shipments need more care than many IT accessories because battery type, air freight rules and destination handling matter. Share the country, quantity and whether the UPS is for resale, project deployment or internal use.
For multi-site branch rollouts, we can standardise the UPS model, network card option, battery cartridge, rack cable plan and support documentation. That keeps replacement and maintenance easier after deployment.
