A 24-port PoE switch could draw far more if PoE cameras or access points are loaded. A small tower server may draw 150W to 400W depending on CPU, drives, and workload. Input, output, and cabling

SRVS1KI uses IEC cabling, not UAE 3-pin sockets directly on the UPS body. Input is IEC 60320 C14. Output is 3 × IEC 60320 C13. That is normal for IT equipment, but it needs to be planned before delivery.

Many servers, switches, firewalls, and storage systems already use IEC C13/C14 power cables. Some small devices use adapters or external power bricks. During installation, we check what plug types are actually used at site and avoid unsafe adapter chains inside the rack or cabinet.

The supplied cable set can include IEC-to-Schuko and IEC-to-C14 style cables depending stock package and regional bundle. For UAE offices, we confirm the actual cable requirement before installation. Output voltage can be configured around 220V, 230V, or 240V. Most UAE IT deployments run fine at 230V. We only change this when the protected equipment or site requirement calls for it.

LCD display and monitoring options

The front LCD gives local status information without connecting a laptop. For small server rooms, that is useful. Load level, battery condition, alarms, input and output status — the person standing in front of the cabinet can see what is happening before calling support.

A 45°C summer outside is not the same as a 45°C server room. The room should not be allowed to reach that point. UPS batteries sitting in high heat age faster. The UPS may still power on, the LCD may still look normal, and the problem only appears when the first outage comes. The load drops earlier than expected.

For production IT loads, we recommend battery checks as part of routine AMC. Not once after failure. Before failure. That means checking age, visual condition, self-test status, load level, alarms, and whether the connected equipment still matches the UPS capacity.

Power quality and generator transfer

Many UAE buildings have generator backup. That does not remove the need for a UPS. It usually makes the UPS more important.

During a utility failure, the generator takes time to start, stabilise, and transfer load. During that gap, network equipment and small servers need battery support. During generator operation, voltage and frequency can fluctuate depending on load, maintenance condition, and building electrical design.

SRVS1KI vs SRVS1KIL, SRV1KI, and rack UPS models

The model number matters. SRVS1KI is the standard 1000VA / 800W tower model. It is not the long-runtime version. It is not a rack model. It has 3 IEC C13 outlets and a tower body.

SRVS1KIL is a different style of requirement: extended runtime with external battery support. That makes sense when the load must stay up longer than a standard internal-battery UPS can support.

SRV1KI is the newer APC Easy UPS On-Line 1000VA / 800W tower family found in Schneider Electric’s current SRV range. Depending stock and approval, it may be the cleaner choice for a new project where exact SRVS-series matching is not required.

Rack UPS models are different again. If the UPS must sit inside a 19-inch rack, do not buy SRVS1KI and try to make it fit. Use a rack-mounted APC online UPS with rail kit. That is the correct approach for server cabinets where floor space is limited or where the UPS must be secured with the rest of the rack equipment.
